چکیده

The knowledge of the theoretical principles of image formation is crucial for understanding what we observe in transmission electron microscope. Two processes mainly determine the image contrast: the electron interaction with specimen and the electron-optical imaging process including the microscope aberrations. Multislice calculation and contrast transfer function are main tools used for interpretation of high-resolution transmission electron microscopy images.

Principles and Applications of Defocus-image Modulation Processing Electron Microscopy

Principles of defocus-image modulation processing (DIMP) are described from a view point of three-dimensional image formation in transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Two types of defocus-image modulation processing electron microscopes (DIMP-EM) have been constructed for realizing spherical aberration-free observation. They are based on changing the objective lens current and modulating the ...

Study of Nanofibrils Formation of Fibroin Protein in Specific Thermal and Acidity Conditions

Background: Amyloid fibrils are insoluble arranged aggregates of proteins that are fibrillar in structure and related to many diseases (at least 20 types of illnesses) and also create many pathologic conditions. Therefore understanding the circumstance of fibril formation is very important. Objectives: This study aims to work on fibrillar structure formation of fibroin (as a model protein)...

3D ChemiSTEMTM Tomography of Nano-scale Precipitates in High Entropy Alloys

Electron tomography is a three-dimensional technique well suited for characterizing fine-scale microstructural features on the order of 10-100 nm. Typically performed in a transmission electron microscope (TEM), it relies on successive image acquisition at multiple sample tilts. Images may be formed through various techniques including conventional and scanning transmission electron microscopy ...

Effects of protective agents (PVA & PVP) on the formation of silver nanoparticles

In this study silver/poly vinyl alcohol (PVA) and silver/poly vinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) Nanocomposites were prepared via reduction of silver salt by employing DMF (N, N`- dimethyl formamide) as a reducing agent. Effects of protective agents such as PVA and PVP were also described here. We show that the acidic pH of PVP solution also affects the interaction between protective agents and silver nan...

Lattice Imaging in Transmission Electron Microscopy

With the resolution becoming sufficient to reveal individual atoms, high-resolution electron microscopy (HREM) can now compete with X-ray and neutron methods to determine quantitatively atomic structures of materials, with the advantage of being applicable to non-periodic objects such as crystal defects. An introduction to the theory and practical aspects of HREM is given. Principles of other l...
